Department of Classroom Education
The initial formation of the Department of Classroom Education began with the "Burdur Girls' Teacher School" in the 1965-1966 academic year. Later, it continued its education under the name of two-year Education Institute in the 1977-1978 academic year. The unit to which the department is affiliated was connected to the Rectorate of Akdeniz University by the Decree Law No. 41 dated July 20, 1982, and its name was changed to the School of Education. While the education period of the Department of Classroom Teaching within the School of Education was 2 years, it was increased to 4 years as of the 1989-1990 academic year. The Department of Classroom Teaching School of Education was connected to the Rectorate of Süleyman Demirel University, which was established by Law No. 3837, and took the name Burdur Faculty of Education. Within the scope of the YÖK/World Bank National Education Development Project, the departments were restructured as of the Spring Semester of the 1997-1998 Academic Year. In this context, as of the 2005-2006 academic year, the Department of Classroom Teaching continued its education in the Primary Education Department. Our department has been continuing its educational activities within Mehmet Akif Ersoy University since December 28, 2006. With the latest update, it has been restructured as the Department of Classroom Education under the Basic Education Department. The general aim of the Department of Classroom Education is to train teachers equipped with knowledge and skills compatible with developing science and technology. Our graduates continue their duties in the Ministry of National Education or private educational institutions. Our department consists of a valuable academic staff trained in the field (4 professors, 3 associate professors, 2 doctorate faculty members and 3 lecturers). There are master's and doctoral programs in our department, and they are actively continuing their education.
